Looking for motivated students to work on molecular simulations
Featured

I am looking for motivated Bachelor and Master students, especially from universities in Uzbekistan, who are interested in Molecular Simulations, Computational Materials Science, and Quantum Chemistry and would like to work on their thesis projects under my supervision.

The supervision will be remote, and the main focus will be on theoretical and computational work. Depending on your background and interests, I can offer several possible topics:

  • Molecular dynamics simulations of organic molecules on interfaces
  • Changing optical properties of surfaces with atomic doping
  • Computational studies electronic and mechanical properties of 2D materials (e.g., hBN, graphene, MoS2)
  • Benchmarking Electronic structure method to study mechanical properties of 2D materials (DFT and semi-empirical methods)
  • Exciton dynamics in inorganic systems
  • Neural Network potentials to study ionic liquids on surfaces

This is not a paid position and there is no formal employment involved. The aim is to help you develop skills in computational physics/chemistry, gide you in writing a Bachelor or Master thesis (dissertation), possibly prepare results that can lead to a scientific publication in high impact factor journals. Also, in the near future I will create my own group and I will be needed some skilled students with some experience.

What is your role?
  • Working on modern problems in theoretical and computational physics
  • Running molecular simulations and electronic-structure (DFT/xTB) calculations
  • Using High Performance Computing (HPC) resources
  • Analyzing data, visualizing results, and interpreting physical mechanisms
  • Publishing results in peer-reviewed, high–impact journals
  • Collaborating within an international research environment
  • Presenting results in talks, posters, and group meetings
  • Continuously learning new computational methods, codes, and workflows
Who can apply?
  • Students in physics, chemistry or related fields
  • Basic knowledge of physics, quantum mechanics and/or solid state physics is desirable
  • Some knowledge in programming (ideally Python) and Linux is a big plus, but not strictly required if you are motivated to learn
  • English language skills (at least reading and writing skills)
If you are interested, please send me a short email with:
  • Your name, university, and current level (Bachelor/Master)
  • Your study program and main interests
  • Short text about your motivation (e.g. why are you interested?)
  • Any previous experience with programming or simulations (if any)
  • Your preferred time frame for starting a project
